Comments:Aloha nephew Don Grady, Mahalo for posting the pic of our mom Anna, dad Juan & Bro. Kin. You are doing a great job with the family site. Everytime I visit the site my heart starts to flutter, tears start flowing and that feeling of missing the ohana starts all over again. How I do miss all of you. Sometimes I want to just pack and move back home to Hawaii. Maybe someday Aunty Jan I will. Takecare. Our love to you, Brenda & family.

Comments:Aloha,
My maternal grandfather was George Holokai(Naniho). He was born in Peahi Maui and attended Lahainaluna. He then moved to Honolulu and married Alice Kama'i. They had one son, George A. K. Holokai and hanai my mother, Emress from Alice's younger sister. I came across this site and thought of maybe finding some roots and connections. Any info. would be welcomed. Great site! Thank you for visiting our website, The Koa Tree. The Naniho Family is a big one, my wifes sister who lives on Molokai is married to a descendent Kaauamo Naniho. Kaauamo was a brother of Hoopii Naniho, there is a website you want to see http://www.kaauamo.com/templates/main.asp?code=tree. I beleive your Tutu George Holokai is a descendent of Hoopii Naniho, Wayne Kaauamo the designer of this site can give you more information on that line. There is a possibility all the Hoopii's are connected to the Kahoopii family, but that is another long story.

Comments:I am an attorney and law professor doing research on the Massie case. The published literature that I have located on the case present the facts from the Massie family perspective. I would be interested to learn of other sources of information, published or unpublished, that provide a more balanced picture. Thanks & Aloha.

Thank you for visiting our family website, The Koa Tree. There was a mini series released on ABC, called "Blood & Orchids" in the 1970's, I beleive? Chris Kristoferson & Shawn Young were the the stars of it. The names were changed but it was based on the Massie Case. Sometimes it comes out on TNT, or AMC if you have those networks in Greeneville, Tennessee.

Thank you for visiting, The Koa Tree. We are related, My Grandmother Annie, and your Mother Sarah were both daughters of Samuel Naohulelua Makekau. My Dad Rudy Makekau Jugoz, was Samuels eldest grandchild. I wish to send my condolences to you & your family, I saw your Moms Memorial in the local newspaper. I never had the pleasure of meeting her, but from her picture, and life story she is a beautiful person.

Comments:I love the internet, I put in your name Rudy and I got your family's website! It's been so long. This is a wonderful tribute to your father!! And looking at all the family pictures brought back lots of memories of the Filipino church and all the conventions, camp and get togethers. I'm back in San Diego with my two boys (one just started college) living close to my mom, Ray and Elaine and their families. I don't know how often you check these but please answer I would love to hear from you and catch up on everything.

Thank you for visiting, The Koa Tree. Please pass on your knowledge of Hawaiian history to others in the state of Colorado. There is a Bill before U.S. Congress called the "Akaka Bill" it will effect the lives of our Hawaiian people. Federal funding for us is being threatened by lawsuits in U.S. Courts. On the other hand our inherent right to reaquire recognition as a sovereign nation may also be at risk.

Thank you for visiting, The Koa Tree website. I know Iolani's birth name was Hariett Lanihau Makekau, her mothers name was Henrietta Makekau. She was hanai to Keahi Luahine her grandaunt who taught her Hula, and renamed her Iolani Luahine. I'll do some checking and let you know if I find anything more.
