Comments My late aunt did research on Sia Co Lim over a decade ago. She charted out the branches starting from Vicente Limsiaco. All with the name of Limsiaco are related. Everywhere you go in the Island of Negros, you meet a relative. I've never met a Limsiaco outside the PI. It's cool to know there are so many out there in other countries.

My name is Kona, I'm the creator of the Koa Tree Family website, and also a decendent of Barellona Limsiaco from Himamaylan, Negros Occidental. About 5 years years ago, I emailed Amabelle Limsiaco who was then a struggling student in Bacolod. We corresponded, as I was interested in learning about the Limsiaco name. She told me the story about how she might have to stop her schooling because of her family's financial situation. So I prayed to God, and God spoke to my heart to send her a small monetary gift. In return she sent me the short summary of the limsiaco ancestry you saw on the web. Last year she wrote to me once again to tell me she finished her schooling, and was accepted as a teacher in a Bacolod school.

Is this Siaco Lim story familiar to you? Was it your late Aunt who did the research? If you have any information regarding my Great Grandmother Barellona please write me.

CommentsAloha-- Like many others, I came across your web site by accident as I was looking for information on my grandma, Annie Makekau. My name is Kanani and I am the dtr of Mary Jane Tacut who was adopted by Annie. As I read through some of the messages, I remember spending some time with you guys during the summers when I visited my Gram. My parents have pictures of your dad (the same ones on the site). I also remember that you had a sister, Sharon, but please forgive me if I have it wrong. Did your mom go by Aunty Nani at any time? If Don is your brother, I work for the same HMO that was referred to. Anyway, I was so happy to find a familiar face (my Gram) in my search. You have done a very impressive job with the web site. I look forward to your response. My father is here taking on the enormous task of researching his family's genealogy. Aloha, Kanani

Yes it was a long time ago, but you are right my moms real name is Leilani, but everyone still calls her Nani. I do have a sister named Sharon who was a special child, but she and Dad have gone on to be with our Grandma and our Kupuna in Heaven above. I remember your mom Auntie Mary Jane & your dad Uncle Solo, and you I remember you also had two brothers? We'll talk some more offline.

CommentsFirst I would like to say thank you for making this website. I'm kamakani son of Mohala Haunani Lui. I was brought up in singapore, and have come back to the aina to know our rich culture and roots we have. I belive we as kanakas must unite, and help one another fight the battle. Fight for our ancestors lands, to help our kanakas who are homeless from Nanakuli all the way to the Big island. Give them guidance in life to help them find themselves. I know my grandfather Kekumano Lui and grandma Waialoha Simeona Lui who have passed, are crying at what they see of what has happen to us Kanakas. I'm staying at Kawa bay in Kau, I call upon our Kupuna to help us.
Aloha

Thank you for visiting the Koa Tree Ohana site. Boy there sure is plenty Hawaii people living in Alaska. I'm not sure if you checked out the Hoopii page, just wanted to point out that the Kekiwis' and the Hoopiis' are related. James Kalalani Kekiwi & Bernard Palenapa Hoopii were brothers, so I guess we are distant cousins. Why they had different surnames is explained there.
