Reply: | Aloha Mai Kalena, Condolences & prayers to you, and your family in this time of great loss. I saw the story on the news last week, and had a feeling he was related. If you have a picture of him you would like to share, I could post it for you on the Website.
PS - In my hanabada days, my father introduced our family to your family on Maui. In later years, I attended Kamehameha as a boarding student with your brother Reuben. How is he? If he has email please forward my Email address to him, looking forward to hearing from him after so many years.
In Loving Memory of

Comments | I am so happy that there is a site like this, it helped me in knowing who are my relatives.
My grandmother gave me this family tree that contains our ancestors and all of our relatives, not all because some family are missing. I have it with me right now. |

Comments | I am the daughter of Annie Kaiwi of Nahiku, Hana, Maui. My grandparents were Keola Kaiwi and Hattie (Kamanu) Kaiwi.
Your website is fantastic. I just noticed your ohana is from Nanakuli. When my mom, her mother and father first left Nahiku for O`ahu, they stayed with my mom's cousin, Joseph Kaiwi and his family. Are you that family. I have seen the names Joe, Charles and Hilda.
My grandpa Keola, is the brother of Ioane Kaiwi. My uncles/aunts are/were Robert Kaiwi, Bernard Kaiwi, Ursula Kaiwi Uchiyama, Ernest Kanekoa, Sonny and Jerry Matson, and more.
Are we of the same Kaiwi ohana?

Departs Lahaina on July 18, 1842 with missionary Williamm Richards. Kamehamaha III sent them to Washington DC, London, Paris, Belgium in search of a treaty of recognized independence for Hawai'i. On November 28, 1843 the treaty is in effect. From London, England the ship 'Montreal' sets sail for Hawaii. On March 23 1845 it arrives except only Richards is seen leaving the ship. Ha'alilio remains were preserved in alcohol. "Died at sea December 15, 1844" at the age of 36 many years seeking all regarding this voyage. His wife was Hana Hupa Haalilio no issue; brother: Levi Haalelea passed October 3,1864; mother:Eseta Kipa; all in Lahaina; maybe your mom knows from old stories. Aloha no, Seeti |
