Lualualei Ahupua'a
Lualua means "spared, flexible" and Lei means "beloved one,
wreath." Translation of lualualei could mean "beloved one spared" or
"flexible wreath." Legend says that Lualualei got its name
because the son of Papa, named Kalakua, had worn the king's
loincloth. The family of Kalakua was to be set on fire for
his wrongdoing. After several days passed, the family was
spared the cruel death, so for this reason, a child born
in the family was named "Lualualei."
