May 2, 1928 - December 12, 1966
Uncle Napa was "Wounded in action" during the Korean War. While on his second tour of duty is listed as "Killed in action" fighting for America at Vietnam. Flying Tiger 923 - Tragedy at Sea
Rachael K. Hoopii, 32, of Waimanalo, Hawaii was on her way with two children to join her husband in Munich, Germany. Mrs. Hoopii and her little girls, Uilani, 10, and Luana, 6, were all eager to see the family together again. Tech Sgt Bernard Palenapa Hoopii, 36, of Wailuku, was energized, excited for his family’s arrival. He was a veteran of 12 years of Army service, which included action in Korea. He had been separated from Rachael, Uilani and Luana for the past two years. Bernard and Rachael had been married for six years.

KUE PETITION - PETITION AGAINST ANNEXATION
In 1897 the native Hawaiian population was less than 40,000. Most of our Nohua ancestors signed the petition, John David Nohua (age 54), Nakuana Kaleikini (age 18), Bernard Hoopii (age 15), Joseph Piimauna Nohua(age 12), Apia Nohua Needham(age 16). They signed on September 11, 1897. 21,000 signatures are included in the document.
